Permits

Permits for the movement of oversize and overweight vehicles and their loads are available through the SGI Permit Office. When issuing permits, the primary concerns are the safety, convenience, and comfort of the motoring public and the protection of the highway surfaces and structures.

The SGI Permit Office has limited authority when issuing permits. Requests for permits that exceed SGI's authority will be redirected to the Ministry's Trucking Policy and Regulations office. Prior to issuing a permit, the Ministry may have to make a detailed engineering analysis to determine whether or not driving surfaces and/or structures on the route are adequate.

		Oil Well Service Vehicle Permit (OWSVP) Carriers and their drivers operating in the oilfield industry, may be exempt from federal hours of service regulations.

		Highways 102, 905 and 915 expansion permit policy To reduce the cost of transporting goods in northern Saskatchewan, the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure is issuing an annual fleet permit to carriers operating on Highways 102, 905 and 915.
