On-premise signs are situated on the same parcel of land on which the business or activity is located. An enterprise or organization located outside the incorporated limits of any organized hamlet, village, town or city adjacent to a provincial highway may be eligible for an on-premise sign.

The sign may identify the business or promote the goods or services that are offered for sale or trade on the premises where the sign is located. Rural private signs are subject to provincial legislation and all bylaws established by the municipality, in which the sign is located.

Off-premise identification signs are directional signs that are separate and apart from the land on which the enterprise or organization is located. These enterprises or organizations must be located outside a city, town, village or organized hamlet and the signs are intended for the purpose of identifying the location of the facility.

One Time Event Signing (OTES) is installed by a non-profit organization or agency hosting a major event of provincial, national or international importance. These signs assist travelers in locating these events.

These temporary signs will not be installed more than 21 calendar days prior to the event, and must be removed no later than three days after the event is completed.
