Roadwork on Saskatchewan Highways

The Province is investing a record $630 million in transportation to keep Saskatchewan strong and steady. This largest-ever highways budget will provide for nearly 1,600 km of major highway and maintenance improvements, bridge and culvert upgrades, airport improvements, short line track rehabilitation and more.

Construction highlights include:

  • $100 million to commence and continue upgrades to more than 250 km of rural highways.
  • $114.5 million for investments to stimulate the economy, including:
    • $23.3 million to continue twinning of Highway 11; and
    • $19.7 million to develop the Global Transportation Hub at Regina.
  • Repairing and repaving 300 km of provincial highways.
  • The largest bridge and culvert program in the province's history - $45 million. This includes $10 million to begin replacing the St. Louis Bridge.
  • $40 million - a 100 per cent increase - to improve rural municipal roads.

Saskatchewan is set to have its busiest construction season on record with 1,580 km of highway rehabilitation and maintenance projects, and the start of several multi-year projects aimed at supporting economic growth.
