The 2008-09 budget provides funding for the development of a Transportation Centre of Excellence at the University of Saskatchewan that will focus on development of new highway and road construction technologies and techniques.

ORDER for Road Restrictions on Highway No. 48

Pursuant to section 35 of The Highways and Transportation Act, 1997,

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that effective 12:00 Midnight, March 31, 2001, and until further notice, vehicles other than those exempted below and those vehicles described in subsections 3(1) and (2) of the "The Vehicle Weight and Dimensions Regulations, 1999", on the following provincial highways:

  • Provincial Highway No. 48 from Kennedy (500 m east of the northwest corner of Section 21, Township 12, Range 3, West of the 2nd Meridian) to 500 m east of Kipling at the junction of Grid Nos. 605 and 709 (375 m east and 875 m south of the northwest corner of Section 22, Township 13, Range 5, West of the 2nd Meridian).

Shall be restricted as follows:

  • The maximum gross vehicle weight not to exceed 8 000 kg or (17,600 lbs.)
  • The maximum gross weight on any axle unit not to exceed 6 000 kg (13,200 lbs.)

The restriction applies to all vehicles except those listed below:

  • Emergency vehicles;
  • Department of Highways and Transportation vehicles when conducting maintenance or accessing sites on or along the restricted highway;
  • Sask Power vehicles when accessing sites along the restricted route;
  • Recreational vehicles; or
  • Buses


This order does not permit the weight on any axle, axle group or vehicle from exceeding the secondary highway weight prescribed in the "The Vehicle Weight and Dimension Regulations, 1999" for that axle, axle group or vehicle.

This order does not restrict vehicles from crossing over Highway No. 48 at a junction of a rural municipality road.

This Order is issued on a permanent basis and should not be confused with Spring Road Restriction Orders.
