Roles and Mandate:

The SETPC is an advisory committee on transportation planning issues that impact upon the social and economic conditions in the Southeast area. The SETPC conducts research and analysis so the committee can advise all levels of government (federal, provincial and municipal) on the Southeast transportation issues, needs and priorities.

The SETPC has an advisory role only and is not intended to serve as another level of government in terms of decision making or the operation of transportation services such as roads or railways.

Goals and Objectives

Goals:

The overall goal of the SETPC is to improve the freight and passenger transportation system serving the Southeast area which will, in turn, improve the social and economic environment.

Objectives:

  1. Improve the knowledge base and understanding of the transportation challenges and issues in the Southeast Area.
  2. Develop and maintain comprehensive transportation plans that address the economic and social needs of the Southeast Area.
  3. Communicate the Southeast transportation concerns and priorities to all levels of Government and industry.
