Goals:

  • To have Athabasca Basin communities, First Nations and business stakeholders work cooperatively with Department of Highways and Transportation to gain a greater knowledge of current and future transportation needs through development of a comprehensive and strategic needs assessment for the area.

  • To pursue opportunities in shared decision making and responsibility with elected leaders which will benefit the social and economic well being of the community, First Nations and businesses in the Athabasca Basin.

Objectives:

  1. To facilitate strategic transportation leadership for the Athabasca First Nations, the communities, the province, Canada and transportation stakeholders in the Athabasca Basin. To establish administrative operating and accountability processes for the ABTPC.

  2. To foster a cooperative environment for transportation planning and the provision of transportation infrastructure and systems in the area.

  3. To gather and share factual information which will help communities and stakeholders have a clean picture of the transportation system and allow for more effective decision making.
