Executive Bios George Stamatinos - Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and ProgramsGeorge Stamatinos is the Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Programs Division. As such, he must deliver leadership on all aspects of transportation policy for Saskatchewan's transportation system. This includes the physical infrastructure (highways, airports and ferries) operated by the province, a regulatory regime (weights, dimensions, safety) for commercial vehicles operating on this system and a provincial policy framework for parts of the system regulated or operated by the federal government or private operators such as railways, airports and ports. In the program area he is also responsible for provincial Shortline Rail programs and regulation, Trucking Partnership Programs, Property Services and Transport Compliance for the province.
George graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1977 with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. He worked with Graham Construction for a short period before returning to the University of Saskatchewan to pursue a Masters degree in Engineering which he completed in 1981. In 1979, George started his career with MHI as a Resident Engineer in the Regina District. Over a 25 year career with the Ministry, he has served in various positions of increasing responsibility within the operations, planning and programs areas of MHI to his current senior executive role. |
