Overpass

A functional study is underway for the future overpass at Highway 1 and the Pilot Butte Access Road.

The study is required to confirm future traffic volumes and movements for the area and develop a design layout that will accommodate all vehicle movements 20 to 30 years into the future.  EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd. (EBA) has been hired by the Ministry to develop several alternatives that can be used to serve the future growth at this intersection.

The functional planning is required to determine the overpass layout, service road configurations and future land requirements.  During the design process, EBA will be consulting with the Town of Pilot Butte, RM of Edenwold, Ochapowace First Nation; and business owners, landowners and developers adjacent to the intersection to collect the most relevant and up to date information to be incorporated in the study.

The study includes:
• Developing traffic projections based on current and future developments;
• Developing design and assessment criteria;
• Undertaking stakeholder and public consultation;
• Developing options to present at a public open house; and
• Completing an analysis of the options and providing a preferred option at a second public open house.

Public open houses are being held during the summer of 2013.
